What Sliding in Socks Taught Me About Balance (And Why Intuition Matters)

I recently had a glimmer of a childhood memory—one I hadn’t thought about in decades but felt like a sign from Spirit. ✨ It took me back to a time when balance wasn’t a chore but a joyful game.

I was a little girl, playing in the lobby of my grandparents’ condo building, La Mer, in Hallandale, Florida. At the time, it felt like the fanciest place in the world. The tile floors were smooth and cool underfoot, and my sisters and I (maybe some cousins too!) would slide around in our socks, laughing as we tried to keep our balance. There was no overthinking, no stress—just pure, unfiltered joy in the moment.

It’s funny how memories like that show up just when we need them—reminders of what balance really is. It’s not perfection. It’s not control. Sometimes, it’s letting yourself slip a little, knowing you’ll catch yourself and maybe even laugh along the way.

What Balance Means in Our Bodies

This idea of playful balance shows up in the work I do as a massage therapist and energy

healer. Like slipping on tile floors, our bodies are constantly searching for balance—shifting,

recalibrating, and telling us where they need support.

Sometimes, those signals show up as tightness in your shoulders, fatigue in your legs, or that

“heavy” feeling you just can’t shake. Other times, they’re quieter, tucked into the tension we’ve been ignoring for far too long.

That’s where intuition comes in

One of my clients, Subadhra, shared this about our work together:

“Tammy is an intuitive massage therapist. She takes time to not only listen to my words

but observe my body language and figures out where I really need to be supported. I have been

getting her massages once a month, and I look forward to the next appointment every single

time. I highly recommend her.“

Subadhra’s words mean so much because this is what I strive to bring to every session: care,

presence, and intuition. I don’t just focus on what hurts; I look for what your body is saying

beyond words, guiding you back to where balance and ease live.

Reclaiming Your Balance

The truth is, most of us have forgotten how to play with balance. Life has a way of pulling us out

of ourselves—too many responsibilities, too much stress, too little time to just be.

But when you reconnect with your body, whether through massage, Reiki, or energy work, something shifts. Your muscles soften. Your breath deepens. You start to feel like yourself again. Like a kid sliding on the tile floors, you realize you don’t need to have everything perfectly under control. You just need to let yourself move with the flow.

Give Yourself the Gift of Lightness

If you’re feeling out of balance right now—if life feels heavier than it should—I’d love to help. My

Balance & Bliss Bundle was created to guide you back to that sense of ease and lightness we

all need, especially during the holiday season.

The Balance & Bliss Bundle includes:

• One 90-minute custom full-body massage

• One 45-minute full-body lymphatic massage with 15 minutes of assisted stretching and 30 minutes of Reiki and Chakra healing.

Q: What does Chakra healing feel like?

A: A similar feeling to how you might have felt while reading my heart warming tale. Could you

feel the floor under your socks too? It’s about tapping into our own vibrations.✨

Together, these sessions work to reset your nervous system, release tension, and bring you

back to a place of calm. Like slipping in your socks as a kid, it’s about rediscovering the joy of

feeling supported and balanced in your body.
